Shorter but more burdensome than our popular 12' Acorn, this little gem will be slower but more versitile. Her glued-lapstrake hull can be planked up from unscarfed 8" plywood sheets.

Can’t go wrong with Iain Oughtred

I am a serial Oughtred builder. I thought I would never build the same boat twice, but I need a tender. This one speaks to me, which is important. Oughtred plans are great for getting started in lapstrake building.

7'10 OUGHTRED Acorn Dinghy (Auk) Plans

The plans are excellent. I also bought Oughtred’s book on Plywood Clinker boat building, which is the Bible. And I bought the kit from Hewes and Co. in Blue Hill. I am laminating the stem and knees and should get the kit this week. Highly recommend for a first tome boat builder (but experienced woodworker.)
