    "Getting to Know COQUINA"

I ordered the captioned article by Maynard Bray on a weekend and received it the same weekend via email. Apparently your staff works overtime which was most appreciated. I had no trouble downloading the article and it was much more informative than I anticipated. The article addresses all aspects of this small 17' catketch which was designed by Nathaniel Herreshoff in 1889 for him to pursue recreational sailing around Bristol Harbor in Rhode Island where his boatyard was located and where I grew up. The design was unusual as it sails and rows well even in shallow waters. I thought I might be able to use a boat like this for exploring the rivers and bayous of the North Shore of Lake Pontchartrain in Louisiana where I live now. Based upon the information in the article I will probably end up either having a replica made or buying a used one. Another great article from this fine magazine!

    Herreshoff Coquina article

I am planning on building the Herreshoff Coquina, so I wanted to read your article about it. I was not disappointed, I learned quite a bit and am feeling encouraged about the project. Thanks! -Alan
